Full name: Anna Marie
Nickname: no specifics
*Codename: Rogue
*Preferred name: Rogue
Canon or Non-canon: Canon
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Birthplace: Caldecott County, Mississippi
Current residence: Mississippi
DOB: August 2
Age: early 20ies
Height: 5'8
Weight: 125 pounds
Hair color: Brown with white streaks at the front
Eye color: Green
Identifying features (i.e. scars, birthmarks, etc): Her White streaked hair
Appearance: The most notable thing about Rogue is the white streaks on the front of her hair, stark in contrast to the rest of her chocolate brown hair. Anna is your typical southern belle. She has plush pink lips and vivid green eyes. Her skin is quite pale, mostly because of the limited amount of sun she gets under her layering of clothes.
Rogue usually wears her uniform on a regular day, however those days where she feels like letting loose she wears form fitting jeans and shirts. If she wears short sleeved shirts she covers her arms with long gloves, with long sleeved shirts she just wears regular gloves. The thing that is noted about her outfits are the shades of green and yellow she favors while topping it off with either brown or black.
*Uniform: Rogues outfit is usually green, yellow or a combination of the two. It's also noted that her outfits are mostly skin tight bodysuits.
In the cold weather she takes on her green and white outfit, it usually has a green cape with white linings around the edges. The shirt and pants are not a bodysuit, however they are still skin tight. Much like the cape, there is a white lining around the outfit. At her feet are thick green boots and her hands are adorned with green gloves as usual.
The one outfit that almost everyone recognizes is the bodysuit of yellow and green. while the front of the outfit is yellow, the sides and back is green. Rogue, to make the outfit more interesting, either wears a brown or black leather jacket on top. The brown quite small while the black one is a long trench. Rogues gloves are yellow while her boots are also yellow with green bands at the top.
Occupation: Former X-Men member. Currently independent and is thinking of leaving her home so she can pursue a good occupation.
Species (human or mutant): Mutant
*Powers:
Rogues powers is one that is used mostly by skin to skin contact. Touching a person means that she is able to drain a persons energy and gains their memories, powers, thoughts and skill. This ability can also mean gaining their persona permanently.
She can gain another mutants ability and in the span of time she has it, the other mutant will have lost this power. If held long enough, she could gain a persons powers permanently like when she had Carol Danvers' (Ms. Marvel) powers.
Sometimes, Rogue completly takes on another persons persona and losses herself. This means she is overwhelmed by the power and has been completly taken over by the absorbed persons persona. Also, this means that Rogue cannot have normal human contact even with a friend, without knocking them unconscious.
When Rogue was Ms. Marvel, she had superhuman strength, stamina, durability and the power to fly. During this time, Rogue sometimes took on the persona of Carol Danvers and would lapse into moments of 'mind battles' in which Carol fights for control. Sometimes Rogue would end up dressing as Ms.Marvel during battles.
Absorbing Z'Cann furthered her mutation allowing Rogue to call upon any power that she had previously absorbed. While flawed because she couldn't control this power, it had still proved to be a powerful one. After much meditation, she learned how to suppress these powers and eventually with the help of Sage, control which power she were to use at one point manifesting the phoenix force, however this could be a telepathic echo of Jean. Rogue however never displayed Z'Cann's power of telepathy.
Rogue at one point had Sunfires abilities which were the projection of heat and flame which also meant being able to completly envelop her body in a fiery aura for she was immune to intense heat and flame. She was also able to fly by using her powers to propel her forward like a rocket. Uses and focuses her powers internally to increase her strength, although not to Superhuman levels. And she was able to see the infrared spectrum, although we cannot conclude if she coudl control it.
*What was the reaction your family had to your powers?: The whole community named her Rogue because she was a threat. Her aunt however she never found out her reaction because she ran, however, Rogue made amends with her aunt later so it is though that she may have been shocked but accepting at the same time.
*Do you do anything to hide obvious powers?: She has to hide her skin or else she can suck a person dry.
Weapons: Her fists are weapons enough for her.
Equipment: Nope.
Alliance (X-Men, Brotherhood, Sinister, SHIELD, neutral): X-Men
Personality: Anna is the quirky one with the cute little comments to go with her southern accent. Anna has taken on the role of 'commentating' in the X-Men. Always chipping in her two sense worth. However, this does not mean that she's an instigator, preferring to do things the more settle way, Anna has been through enough chaos while she was with the brotherhood (still trying to get all the voices out of her head). Anna has always felt the need to be around people, but that is because she cannot touch people, so feels limited when it comes to human contact.
Anna still lapses in depression sometimes, especially when it comes to the fact that she cannot touch anyone. Simple human needs like a hug or a kiss cannot be given because of the simple fact that her powers could harm the person. Despite this, she has managed to come through for all of them and still gives it her all when it comes to support.
Family: Priscilla(deceased), Owen (alive- are not in contact) . She was raised for a moment by her aunt Carrie until she was taken in by Mystique.
Family Influence: long list but she was influenced by Destiny, Mystique (foster mother), Blindspot(like a sister), Sunspot (like a brother) and the professor (fatherly figure).
*Registered?: Yes, she sadly is.
Background:
As the daughter of hippies, Anna Marie led a peaceful childhood. It was when something went wrong that her mother went missing. Her aunt Carrie was quite strict and Anna wasn't fond of her father so grew up to be rebellious and eventually ran away. After she was sought out by Mystique on destiny's advice, and was adopted by the former. At one point she had a boyfriend who landed in a coma because of a kiss, this made rogue lonely and Mystique turned this into anger recruiting her into the Brotherhood of Evil.
Rogue becomes good friends with Blindspot, because of her ability to touch and erase memories, this counteracts Rogues ability and they are able to touch without harm being inflicted.
After much confrontation with absorbing powers (permanently those of Ms. Marvel) Rogue had gone insane, fighting the new persona in her head. Rogue does still live with the guilt of almost killing Ms. Marvel, but continued to use her powers until it left her. After a few more heated battles with the good guys, she eventually leaves the Brotherhood, fearing absorption and all the malice would drive her insane.
Despite the X-Men’s disapproval, Professor Xavier allowed her as part of the team, her first mission being with Logan. After nearly risking her life for the sake of Logan's fiancée (whom he was to marry soon) she gained Logan's trust. He went as far as kissing her so she can use his ability to heal. Eventually she gained everyone trust by risking her life to save Colossus.
During the raid of SHIELD's Helicarrier to rescue Michael Rossi, Rogue for the first time succumbed to the persona of Ms. Marvel. At times when Carol took over, Rogue would find herself dressed much like Ms. Marvel with really annoyed Rogue. Eventually she was pulled through Siege Perilous where she was promised a new life and was stripped of Ms. Marvel. Finding herself back in Australia (the temporary base of the X-Men) she had found herself up against the Reavers and Carol herself. After absorbing Gateway and running away she summoned a portal to escape, but Carol jumped in just in time.
Ending up powerless in Savage Land while Carol was in Muir islands, Carol had followed her back to Savage land corrupted by Shadow King. The two battled, but both were so worn out that Rogue was on the verge of being completely drained out but was saved by Magneto. Rogue toyed around with a romantic involvement with him, but she saw through his nobility when he killed Zaladane the high priestess. Rogue flew back to Muir Islands shaken up and eventually met up with the X-Men; her power fully returned.
When the X-men where divided into two teams, Rogue ended up in Cyclops’ blue team with the new X-Men Gambit. While Gambit flirted with all the women, Rogue caught his eyes and he expressed a romantic desire for her. Their on and off relationship was rocky, mostly because of her inability to control her powers and because of dishonesty on Gambit's part relative to his past.
Belladonna, Gambit's ex, had sent assassins to kill Cody who Rogue previously hospitalized and began frequently visiting him. Being a spiritualist, she made amends with Cody's spirit before he departed to the afterlife, the ounce of guilt coming from there had disappeared and Rogue was more or less free.
Rogue also found out the Mystique had two sons, one dead, and the other her own teammate Nighcrawler, the two consider themselves siblings, but this hasn't changed much on their relationship as friends.
After Scott's supposed death and Storm having left, Rogue became the new field commander until the return of Storm. Her even temper and her years of service were what made her the best candidate.
Rogue had also absorbed Z'Cann when Earth was transformed into a security penal colony for extraterrestrial criminals by the galactic council. Rogue mutated and was able to call all former absorbed powers.
Rogue was also a part of Storms team the X-Treme X-men in which they were to search for Destiny's Diaries. Vargas foresaw that Rogue would kill him which led to him ambushing Rogue and Gambit, the latter being badly hurt. Rogue battled and killed him then returned to save Gambit with the help of Jean. After losing there powers again from the ordeal and Rogue having inherited a mansion and money from Destiny, the X-Men decided a 'break' would be nice, Rogue and Gambit exploring their relationship further. During this time the X-Treme X-men with bishop, Sage and Bogan were to investigate the murder of a human girl’s family. In the end, Rogue asked Sage to return Gambits power to him, but shook off Gambits comment to do the same for her.
Returning to the mansion and joining Havok with Gambit, Rogue powers eventually returned to her. During one time, she had found out what had happened to her mother, set her mother free from the 'dream' realm and even made amends with her Aunt Carrie finally considering her as a mother.
Returning to confront with Golgotha, she had gotten in a heated argument with Gambit about her powers. Wolverine influenced by Golgotha revealed to Rogue he had feelings for her and kissed her. While Emma Frost tried to help their relationship, things remained problematic.
When Sunfire lost his legs to Lady Deathstrike during an investigation of a photo of himself and Rogue engaging in criminal activity (Blindspot had erased their memories of this) Rogue absorbed his powers because he would rather die then live legless.
Returning to the Mansion and finding Gambit being seduced by Foxx. Gambit resists temptation which led to Foxx revealing herself to be Mystique who explains she wasn't happy with Rogues choice of men. Mystique transforms into Rogue and offers a physical relationship to Gambit (which Gambit say's nothing happened). Rogue found out and this resulted in Rogue and Gambit's relationship rift that Mystique always wanted so she can set up Rogue with Pulse. After the ordeal Mystique asks to stay and is denied.
When Gambit had volunteered to become Apocalypses horseman, he attacked Rogue when becoming Death. Sunspot was also granted legs as he was turned into a horseman. After these events Gambit eventually left the X-Men to fix their lives.
After a large group of X-men go to space, Cyclops gave Rogue the authority to create her own group in which Cyclops doesn't agree with (the line up consisting of Iceman, Cannonball, Cable, Lady Mastermind and Karima Shapandar). The team manages to take down the group known as the Children of the Vault. Rogue then declares the team will leave the X-Mansion, but shortly after the leave she is hospitalized because of a battle with Pandemic. Cable who desired Rogue's help to fight the Hecatomb forcefully wakes her up. While her power has now become a death touch because of Pandemics strain 88 virus, Rogues amplified power defeats Hecatomb which allows her to absorb the eight billion entities that had been stored inside it.
Rogue is sent to heal in her home town and Emma and Cyclops return to help her deal with the voices. Marauders come during this time to seek the Destiny's Diaries. Turns out Mystique is working with the Marauders and Mr. Sinister. Shot by Mystique and taken to Mr. Sinister who keeps her alive only because she has all the information in her head. Gambit with them is protective of Rogue and accuses Mystique of her careless way capturing Rogue. Gambit then tries to wake her up from her trance apologizing about what he did before he joined Sinister. Rogue starts to see her old memories with him a long with ones of others, when she wakes up she is incoherent and babbling on about mysterious coordinates. The X-Men attack the Marauders Antarctic to save Rogue and the mutant baby but instead they didn't even see Rogue at all as she was preceded by the baby.
Standing by Rogue is Mystique and Sinister comes telling her there is no cure and Rogue will die. Pissed, Mystique takes his face and shoves it on Rogue instantly killing him. Mystique then places the baby's face at Rogues; the Destiny's Diaries words said so. Rogue woke up and the baby was unaffected. Rogue then drains Mystique and supposedly kills her, taking on her conscious because Mystique was willing to kill the baby for Rogue, the latter sick of Mystique putting people in danger. Rogue explains about the baby and how she no longer has all the consciouses in her mind but has Mystique's instead. She leaves and tells Gambit not to follow. What Rogue doesn't know is that her 'mother' is much alive and the voice in her head is only a figment of her imagination.
Traveling Australia on a motorbike, Rogue believes she has to learn how to control her powers on her own. The X-Men’s old headquarters becoming her home, oddly, a woman claiming to be an anthropologist from the Melbourne University arrives in town. Rogue allows her to stay for as long as she needs to. The woman starts following Rogue and reveals her identity as being danger after she is targeted by a low flying Shi'ar spaceship. Danger, wanting to use Rogue to get revenge on the professor uses her as a conduit. Danger creates an amalgamation of several past events in the X-Men's history mostly revolving around Rogue. While Professor X and Gambit are searching for her, Rogue is evading old versions of the X-Men and the Marauders. She is finally cornered by the Marauders and refuses to let 'Mystique' take over and save her as the fake Scalphunter shoots at her. 'Mystique' takes over anyways and saves her, then turns the control over to Rogue.
During these events she notices that the environment keeps changing and she wanders to the fake Tokyo Tower, not far after she ends up in Antarctica. Witnessing the moment she abandons Gambit after his trial, Rogue starts to feel regrets telling Mystique how much she misses him and wasn't over him. At this point Cody reappears repeating a similar greeting the night she saw him when her powers surfaced and all Rogue can do is stare in shock.
It's been a year since coming back from Australia and Rogue has returned to the home where she didn't have to deal with powers, Mississippi. Feeling betrayed by the two men she trusted, Rogue has sought out the comfort of the mother she currently accepted, Carrie.
Rogue is keeping out of sight, laying low from people who would recognize her and secluding herself from any human contact except for that of her aunt. She has heard from a few of her former X-Men friends, but she has taken it upon herself to decline returning and staying with her aunt.
However, recently a few people have caught sight of her and wish for her to leave. Now, a registered mutant, her aunt is always being told off for allowing a mutant in the area and Rogue is thinking of running away again.
Skills: Rogue is an exceptional hand to hand fighter and quite agile. This could mean that she doesn't need her power all the times.
Loves: A certain Cajun, solitude so she doesn't have to fear touching anyone, Some good old humor
Hates: Not being able to touch, boredom, people who take things too far... and Mystique
Strengths: She is level headed which is why she was allowed to create her own X-men team, she cam be a great leader because of the fact that she's quite experienced on the battle field and her wit is something that always helps her out.
Weaknesses: She's too stubborn, once she's got her mind set on something she will do it. She's sometimes too introverted because of her lack of physical contact. Rogue has problems with trusting people because she was betrayed so many times by people she was close to. Rogue seems to judge too easily, automatically assuming the worst or the best of a person.
Anything else?: Rogues inability to control her powers is psychological because when she had Ms. Marvels persona she didn't seem to have a problem touching anyone.
RP sample:
Her hood was pulled up, only the tendrils of white drifting from her hood was seen. Emerald eyes darted from side to side, she needed to go somewhere secluded. At this time and night the sight of the streets of New York could be sickening. There were a few drunks passed out, some girls puking into the trash bin... it was heinous.
Turning a corner into a tight alley her feet quickly moved to the end then made a turn right. Rogue pushed her way through the tight space and came to a fence opening, forcing herself through it, her body finally relaxed.
The park was large, flowers scattered everywhere. There were no benches, but the upraised tree root provided a great seating spot. From far away you could see the back of buildings and a small gate opening that led to a bar. She could have gone that way, but the people there disgusted her.
Rogue silently walked to the tree root. She sat down and leaned her head against the tree trunk. For once she didn't have to worry about accidentally touching someone.
Pulling off her gloves, she pushed down her hood, her eyes fixed on her now bare hands. How could they cause so much destruction, why couldn't she control it? She was glaring at her hands, as if by some miracle she would figure out how to control her powers.
The professors words still echoed in the hollows of her mind telling her how it was psychological, that she could control it, it all had to do with her state of mind. Yet, he couldn't explain to her how it was she would be able to keep it in check, how coudl she return to her powers after draining Z'Cann?
Muttering darkly, she remembered faintly that when Carol Danvers took over, she could always touch someone without harming them. She growled, Carol was better at controlling her own powers when her body succumbed to the hero. The hero that had impacted her life in so many ways.
Rogue allowed those thoughts to be pushed to the back of her mind, maybe this once she would think of something other than her powers. For once, an optimistic state of mind would be needed.
