Ororo walked through the streets of Cairo, Egypt, a place that she had once roamed as a very young child. She was taking a break from being the goddess of a small African village, and she really wanted to contact someone in New York to see what has been happening in the past three years. Ororo wanted to go back, the only place that had truly felt like a home there.
Ororo walked into a hotel and asked the man behind the desk if she could use their phone. When the woman looked at her and was about to say no, Ororo gave her a sad look.
"It's an emergency." she said plainly.
The woman then handed her the phone. Ororo dialed the number to Xavier's Mansion and waited as it rang.
Please be the same number. Please.
The phone rang again.
Come on Jean...
And again.
Scott...
And another time.
Anyone... she thought to herself as she waited for someone to answer the phone.

Emma had just been ready to walk out the door when she heard the phone ring, though paid it little attention. Someone was always around to pick it up, until it rang again. A quick mental scan told her that she was the only one close right now, and just as she was about to go shopping too. Sighing, Emma picked up the phone on the fourth ring, right before the machine was about to get it.
"Hello?"
Please make this quick, or at least get someone else on the line. Conference calls were so incredibly common in the institute, and one wouldn't be surprised, with the amount of handsets there were. Emma still remembered the thoughts that went through the man's head when they ordered all the new phones, ordering them by the dozens. Forge wasn't too happy that day either.

Ororo was tapping her foot getting nervous that the X-Men were no longer together, or that they had gotten their phone number changed. Ororo exhaled deeply as she heard a very familiar voice answer the phone and sounding somewhat upset.
"Hello Emma. This is Ororo." she said calmly into the phone.
She waited a few seconds before saying something again.
"How have you been?" she asked calmly. It had been three years since she had talked to the X-Men, and well, this was going to be awkward in the least.

The stealthy thief had heard the phone ring, though paid it little attention, answering the phone wasn't really his thing. However, a quick glance at the number had peeked his interest, clearly an international number. Who would be calling internationally? Picking up the receiver, Remy listened silently as Emma answered the phone, then as Ororo's voice came on the line.
"Stormy? Bonjour mon chere, been far too long. Ironic ain't it? Ya de reason why I came here in de first place an' yet here I am, wit'out my best X-Woman." The two went way back and Storm was truly a family member to Remy. The institute was just too empty without the white-haired goddess walking around, her motherly nature keeping everyone in their place.

Ororo smiled once she heard Remy's voice come on the line. She missed him terribly. Life was simply boring without Remy's cajun cooking.
"Well Remy LeBeau, aren't you a sound for sore ears." she said chuckling softly.
"Yes. It is too ironic." she said softly. She missed her home terribly and she wanted to go back desperately.
"I think I might be coming back..."

It was good to hear her voice, that voice that only a strong black woman could possess. It reminded him of his tante so much, though Ororo was lacking the cajun accent. "Ya don' sound so bad yaself Stormy. How's de sun been treatin' ya? Got a little color, lookin' jus' ripe fo' de pickin?" Ororo always did look good to Remy, however, he could never help but remember her as a child, which tended to kill the attraction a bit.
"Tired o' playin' Goddess already? Comin' back t' fight fo' de cause 'gain? Kick some Sinister butt, show de nation dey need no registration act, all dat stuff? I be sure t' worship an' all dat too."
Without Rogue around the mansion, Remy felt very much alone, though it was hard to explain when he was constantly surrounded by people.

The mystery caller was none other then Ororo, the weather goddess of the X-Men and self-appointed gardner. Emma didn't dislike the woman, though they had never bonded, but then again, Emma really didn't bond with many people. "It seems you two are catching up quickly." Remy had picked up the phone, and along with his well-known personality, flirted shamelessly with the African woman. Emma had to admit though, Remy certainly was a looker.
"I'm sure the whole team would love to have you come back Ororo, things have been hectic around here. I'm sure you can imagine of course, more students show up every day, and the number of teachers has stayed the same, with the exception of Remy coming back of course. But leave it to a man to come back from France and not bring a woman a gift, right?"

Ororo laughed softly as Remy asked how the sun had been treating her.
"Well, it's been treating me well. I still have my lovely glow, and I think I have gotten a bit tan." she said grinning to herself. Ororo couldn't get much darker than she already was.
Ororo laughed again as Remy commented on her coming back. "Well of course Remy. I plan to show the nation that mutants are capable of controlling their powers and coexisting with humans." she said calmly. "How do they register you anyways? I left before everyone had to be registered."
That's when Emma chimed in. Ororo didn't really have an opinion on Emma. They hadn't really gotten to know each other, and that was fine with Ororo. Emma didn't seem like the bonding type. But in the end Emma was a part of the team so Ororo respected her just as much as she would anyone else.
Ororo smiled as she heard about things being hectic, and she kind of missed it. "I know full well what you mean Emma." Ororo laughed again as Emma said that Remy hadn't brought her a gift. "Well you know Remy. He believes that his personality is the greatest gift of all."

No matter how much it seemed that things had fallen apart, Storm could always make it seem better, for Remy at least. The two shared a bond that sometimes even he couldn't figure out, though it didn't need any explanation. Not to him. They had spent many good times together, and Remy was happy to hear that she seemed ready to come home.
"De second ya step onta American soil ya get scanned, den get told t' register o' get captured. Fairly easy concept." It sounded easy at least, though the experience was a much harsher reality.
At Ororo's last comment, Remy quickly sucked in a breath of air, as if in pain. "Ya wound me mon chere, how can ya be so heartless? Aftah all I did fo' ya Stormy, an' dis is how ya talk 'bout me? I be t'inkin' ya gotta make it up t' me when ya get back here." Always with the dramatics, though that was Remy's style.
" 'Sides, I came back t' help, ain't dat 'nough o' a gift? An' what do ya get a woman who already has her own company an' private jet anyway?"

As much as Emma liked the X-Men, their Utopian dream seemed so unrealistic to her. But then again, she had already pioneered a path for mutants just by being a mutant and being the CEO of a major company. If that didn't prove that mutants could live in the world, then she wasn't sure what could.
"Don't let him scare you Ororo, but he is right, just do as they say. You know the routine of course, listen to the humans and they wont sick their bull-dog sentinels on you." Rolling her eyes, Emma had sadly grown accustomed to sentinels being everywhere. Almost to the point that she felt comfortable with them keeping the Brotherhood at bay.
"Really Remy? You were in France, of all places. At least some perfume, maybe some clothes? Or is that too much to ask for from a thief? One who still practices I'm sure." His mind was like a steel-trap, which infuriated Emma, though some things were just common knowledge. "But he is right you know Ororo, I can send my jet for you. Or I'm sure our fearless leader would pick you. Whichever you prefer."

Ororo nodded to herself as she listened about how they register you. "Oh, I see." she said calmly. Then she listened to Emma about how as long as you listen to the humans they won't sick their sentinels on them.
"That's how I figured it would be Emma."
Ororo laughed softly as Remy started taking a dramatic approach to her comment. "Oh Remy, you know I didn't mean any harm by it. But how should I make it up to you?"
Ororo laughed as Emma said that Remy should have bought her perfume, or clothes or something. Then Emma offered to send her jet to her, or to have Scott pick her up.
"Well, whatever is easier for all of you. It doesn't matter to me either way."

"Shhh Emma, not polite t' discuss ot'er people's personal hobbies like dat." Remy was a thief to the core, but nothing else could be expected from a man who was raised to be just that, a thief. Ororo understood, that was why they bonded so well, she understood him and never judged his character because of his occupation.
"I be dere when ya come in, 'kay Stormy? I imagine ya can figure out some way t' make it all better on dat long plane ride. So when are ya decidin' t' come back?"
It almost felt like a family again, now if only Rogue would get some sense knocked into her and return home as well. But that was another story and concern entirely.

Inwardly Emma rolled her eyes, though her outward appearance never changed from graceful and well...perfect. To Emma, appearances truly were everything. "Oh Remy, you talk as if it's still a secret. Not like those secrets I'm sure you have floating around in your head." Of all the X-Men, Gambit was up there with Wolverine when it came to secrets, thought Emma could read Wolverine's mind.
"Nonsense, I'll send my jet for you. First-class for a goddess, right Ororo? Is there anything you'd like me to send with it? Clothes maybe?" If Emma was living in Africa, clothes would be the first thing she'd want, though very few of the X-Men actually thought the way that Emma did. "Just give me a date to send the jet and it'll be done. And a destination of course."
It would be great to have another teacher around, helping with the students. Emma loved teaching, it was such a huge part of her, but even she was beginning to get overloaded from all the work.

Ororo smiled when Remy said he would be there when she came in. "That would be great Remy. We have a lot of catching up to do." she said getting excited about coming back.
That's when Emma said she would send her jet and whatever Ororo needed for when the plane arrived. "That would be lovely Emma. Thank you." she said gratefully. Then thinking about it, Ororo decided to take Emma up on her offer. "Yes. A pair of jeans would be greatly appreciated."
Ororo thought about when she would come back. If she flew down to the village tonight, she would be able to say good-bye and get back to Cairo around noon the next day. "Send your plane tomorrow. I'll be ready."

Having Ororo back would make the institute feel like home again, hopefully. He had been gone for so long and now it was awkward living in a house full of strangers again, especially when his anchors to the mansion weren't around anymore. Though one was now coming back, all he needed was for Rogue to come back as well.
"It'll be great t' see ya 'gain Stormy. Bet ya look even better now den de last time we saw each ot'er." Always a flirt, that was the nature of Remy LeBeau, but only when the situation called for it.
"Only de best fo' ya. Least, till ya get back here. T'ings have changed Stormy, jus' be prepared." Be prepared to return to an institute without the majority of the X-Men, and students who have no idea how to use their powers because they can't be trained to fight.
